An Overview Of Alopecia

This module looks at pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and outcomes of alopecia in ferrets:

Cause – various adrenal disease, hypothyroidism, seasonal changes, starvation/malnutrition.
Signs – hair loss.
Diagnosis – depends on the cause.
Treatment – depends on the cause. Hormonal therapy, cat laxative, ectoparasiticide, topical antifungal preparation, supplementation.
Prognosis – good.
